EIVA weekly awards given to Harvard's Woolbert, George Mason's Zahariev

This week's EIVA award winners each helped their teams to 2-0 weekends, and each delivered performances worthy of either the offensive or defensive awards. George Mason's Georgi Zahariev is the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week and Harvard's Owen Woolbert is the Defensive Player of the Week for March 2, 2026.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Georgi ran an efficient offense and had an impact from end to end of the court as the Patriots scored a pair of weekend wins. The senior setter had 53 assists, two kills on .400 hitting, an ace, three blocks and nine digs as George Mason edged NJIT 3-1 on Feb. 27. He added 38 assists while going 2 for 2 on his swings to hit 1.000, plus one ace, three blocks and six digs in a 3-0 sweep of Dominican (N.Y.). He totaled 91 assists, four kills on error-free .571 hitting, two aces, six blocks and 15 digs. He guided the Patriot offense to .359 hitting over seven sets, including .393 hitting over four sets vs. NJIT, and helped five GMU hitters post double digits in kills while hitting over .290. Zahariev leads the EIVA at 10.02 assists per set. This is the second EIVA weekly honor of Zahariev’s career and first of the season.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Owen Woolbert, Jr., MB, Harvard
Owen was tough to beat and tough to stop in a pair of Crimson victories over the weekend. The junior middle blocker totaled 18 kills on .533 hitting with four aces, two digs and 11 blocks as Harvard earned 3-1 and 3-0 conference wins over Charleston. He began his weekend Feb. 27 with 12 kills and two errors to hit .556, adding three aces, four blocks and a dig. The next day he had six kills on error-free .500 hitting with one ace, one dig and a career-high-tying seven blocks, one solo. Woolbert is sixth in the EIVA in hitting (.273) and aces (0.31 per set) and 10th in blocks per set (0.80). This is the second EIVA weekly honor of Woolbert’s career and his first of the season.
