OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nyherowo Omene, Sr., PIN, Princeton
Nyherowo delivered one of the biggest weekends of his collegiate career in the Tigers’ split of two matches at Charleston. The senior pin hitter totaled 45 kills on .395 hitting, adding two assists, two aces, 11 digs and six blocks, two solo. He opened with 18 kills on .256 hitting with an ace, an assist, five digs and a pair of blocks during a 3-1 loss to the Eagles on Feb. 21. The next afternoon Omene fired in a career-high 27 kills while hitting .535, making four errors on 43 swings, plus an assist, an ace, six digs and four blocks. He had eight kills in the first set alone in that match. His 27 kills are the most in a match in the EIVA this season, and second-most nationally in a four-set contest. It’s also the most for the Tiger program since George Huhmann delivered 28 against Harvard in 2019. Omene leads the EIVA in aces (0.515 per set), kills (4.06 per set) and points (5.02 per set). In NCAA Division I-II, he ranks 12th, sixth and fifth in those respective categories. This is the second EIVA weekly honor of the season for Omene and third of his career.
