EIVA sees 5 teams earn AVCA Team Academic Awards

The AVCA has announced yet another record-setting year for its annual Team Academic Awards sponsored by Intent, and the EIVA leads the way among men’s programs.
Five of the EIVA’s seven schools earned spots on the 2025 list, released July 21. Harvard paces the conference with awards for 14 consecutive years – best among all NCAA and NAIA men’s teams. The Crimson also were named the inaugural Team Academic Champion with the highest GPA for NCAA Division I men.
George Mason, NJIT, Penn State and Princeton also earned recognition on the annual list, which has honored high school and collegiate programs since 1992-93. They are among the 21 NCAA Division I-II men’s programs earning awards and 58 total men’s programs for all divisions including NAIA. Overall, 1,450 volleyball programs made the list, which includes men, women, beach and high school, breaking last year’s record of 1,425 schools. Also, 66 high school boys’ teams captured honors, surpassing the previous record of 59 from 2024.
The five EIVA honorees leads all men’s Division I-II conferences, ahead of four each for the MIVA and MPSF, and matches the 2022 season for the most in conference history
The AVCA Team Academic Awards sponsored by Intent honors programs that maintained a team GPA of 3.3 (4.0 scale) or 4.1 (5.0 scale) over the recently completed academic year.
The AVCA also recognized its Team Academic Honor Roll for the top 20 percent Team GPAs for each division. Harvard and NJIT were among the four Division I-II men’s teams earning that distinction. It marks the sixth consecutive season for the Crimson to pick up that honor, while the Highlanders are listed for a second straight year and third time since 2021.
In addition to 14 straight awards, the Crimson have been honored 16 times, earned over the last 17 seasons, which tops all NCAA Division I-II programs and trails only Division III Vassar’s 17 for most among all levels of collegiate men. Stanford is the only other Division I-II men’s program with a double-digit total, at 14.
This is the second consecutive honor for the Patriots, who have earned four awards in the past six years and six total. The Highlanders have earned nine total awards, all over the past dozen seasons, and have been listed the last six years; the Nittany Lions picked up their second award in program history, with both earned in the last three years; and the Tigers make the list for a second straight year and their three total awards have been earned during the last four seasons.
