Final 2023 weekly EIVA awards given to Princeton's Wedbush, Penn State's Rose

Tigers' Brady Wedbush earns Offensive honor, Nittany Lions' Owen Rose wins on defense

The EIVA's final weekly awards for 2023 have been earned by Princeton's Brady Wedbush as Offensive Player of the Week and Penn State's Owen Rose as Defensive Player of the Week for April 17, 2023.
Offensive Player of the Week
Brady Wedbush, Sr., OH, Princeton
Brady delivered from the net and the service line to help land a key victory for the Tigers. The senior outside hitter notched a career-high 15 kills, with only one error to hit .636 in No. 15 Princeton’s 3-0 sweep of NJIT on April 14. The victory in the Tigers’ final game of the regular season was the ninth win in their last 14 matches and secured second place in the EIVA standings to earn a first-round bye in the upcoming EIVA Championship Tournament. Wedbush also put in a career-high six service aces, plus four digs, a block and an assist. This marks the first weekly EIVA honor of Wedbush’s season and second of his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Owen Rose, So., MB, Penn State
Owen’s play above the net secured two weekend wins for the No. 3 Nittany Lions to complete a second straight undefeated EIVA regular season and the top seed in the conference tournament April 19-22. The sophomore middle blocker totaled nine kills on .467 hitting with 10 blocks and a pair of digs in a weekend sweep of Charleston. Rose notched six kills and three blocks in a 3-0 sweep of April 14, then had three kills and seven blocks in a 3-1 win the following day. He leads the EIVA and ranks seventh in the nation averaging 1.097 blocks per set. Rose captures his third weekly EIVA award for this season and his career.
