Parker Dixon of Princeton and Harvard's Matthew Ctvrtlik earned weekly honors from the EIVA on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019. Dixon is the Offensive Player of the Week and Ctvrtlik is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Parker Dixon, Jr., OH, Princeton
Parker collected 57 kills on .433 hitting with 12 blocks and 10 digs during a 3-1 win at UC-San Diego, a 3-0 loss to No. 15 Southern Cal, and a 3-2 loss to No. 12 Cal State Northridge. The performance included 25 kills on .447 hitting with six digs and three blocks to beat the Tritons; eight kills, three digs and a block against the Trojans; and 24 kills on .487 hitting and eight blocks against the Matadors. Parker’s 121 kills and 3.90 kills-per-set average both rank third in the EIVA. The EIVA weekly award is Parker’s second of the season and third of his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Matthew Ctvrtlik, Jr., S, Harvard
Matthew tallied 88 assists while guiding Harvard to .330 hitting in a 3-2 loss to Ball State and a 3-1 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne. He also had six kills in 10 swings over the two matches while picking up 15 digs and four blocks, two of them solo stuffs. He had nine digs and hit .750 with three kills on four swings in the loss to the Mastadons, and posted six digs and a pair of solo blocks while giving out a career-high 46 assists against the Cardinals. This is Matthew’s first EIVA weekly award of the season and for his career.
