LORETTO, Pa. - The Saint Francis University men's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to the No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions on senior day to end the 2015 regular season.
Saturday afternoon featured a packed house in DeGol Arena with a rowdy men's volleyball crowd that could not prevent the No. 6 Nittany Lions from stealing the show from the Saint Francis seniors.
Penn State jumped on the Flash early in the first set only allowing Saint Francis to tie the set one time. In the second set the Flash put up more of a fight, looking to even up the contest at 1-1. The Nittany Lions continued to overpower the Flash as they distanced themselves from the Saint Francis with a 2-0 lead.
Penn State put the nail in the coffin with a 25-22 third set win.
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) was the only Red Flash attacker to reach double figure kills (12).Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) chipped in 34 assists as well as two kills from two attempts. JuniorMike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) hit .750 from the floor. Marshman tallied six kills. Jeff Hogan(Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) and Jack Carlson (Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield) both collected six digs in the contest.
Nittany Lions head coach Mark Pavlik earned his 500th career win in the 3-0 setback of the Red Flash.
