Penn State’s Harvey named Uvaldo Acosta Memorial Player of the Year

Sean Harvey has been consistent and reliable for Penn State all season, helping the Nittany Lions to the EIVA regular-season title.
He delivered plenty of outstanding performances in matches throughout the season, with his play earning him the honor as the EIVA Uvaldo Acosta Memorial Player of the Year for 2026, as determined by the conference coaches on April 21, 2026.
The redshirt sophomore outside hitter leads the conference in hitting (.324), ranks third in kills per set (3.57) and points per set (4.23). Nationally, he ranks 28th in hitting, 25th in kills and 20th in points. He has recorded at least 20 kills in a match three times this season and at least 10 kills in all but five of his 26 matches. He closed the season impressively, with 92 kills on .367 hitting over the Lions’ final five matches. Harvey also has 24 aces this season (0.24 aces per set), is second on the team in digs (136, 1.43 digs per set) and is third in blocks (70, 0.74 blocks per set).
Harvey, a native of Bartlett, Ill., earned EIVA Player of the Week honors four times in 2026. He is the 24th EIVA Player of the Year during the tenure of coach Mark Pavlik, and the 17th different Nittany Lion honored.
The top-seeded Nittany Lions are hosting the EIVA Championship Tournament this week in Rec Hall from April 22-25. Penn State next plays April 23 against the winner of the first-round match between Sacred Heart and Charleston.
