Penn State's Ryan Merk is the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for Feb. 24, 2025. Ryan anchored the back row for the Nittany Lions in a split weekend at NJIT. He picked up four digs and one assist while going 16 for 16 in service receptions in a 3-0 loss to the Highlanders on Feb. 21. The next day he recorded 11 digs and two assists, with 20 more error-free service receptions in a 3-1 win. His weekend totaled 15 digs, three assists and 36 for 36 on serve-receive. Merk ranks second in the EIVA averaging 1.88 digs per set, and his 75 total digs tops the conference. Merk earns his first weekly EIVA honor of the season and second of his career.
