Penn State's John Kerr is the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for April 15, 2024. He and teammate Owen Rose, the Defensive Player of the Week, are the final weekly award winners of 2024. John posted a pair of huge performances in No. 8 Penn State’s weekend sweep of No. 15 George Mason, wrapping up a third straight undefeated conference season and the regular-season EIVA title to earn the top seed and hosting duties for the EIVA Championship Tournament. The graduate student opposite knocked in 23 kills with one error to hit .524, adding an assist, an ace, seven digs and four blocks during a dramatic 3-2 win April 12. Five of his kills were delivered during the 15-13 fifth set, with the last on match point. The next day he had 20 kills on .361 hitting with two assists, two aces, six digs and five blocks during a 3-1 victory. His weekend totals had 43 kills, .449 hitting, three assists, three aces, 13 digs and nine blocks. He has posted double digits in kills in 20 of 26 matches this season, including his last 14 contests, and has 20 or more kills four times this year. He ranks second in the EIVA in kills per set (3.75) and points per set (4.27) and is fifth in hitting (.357). This is the third EIVA weekly award of the season for Kerr and fourth of his career.
