Penn State's John Kerr is the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for March 11, 2024. John carried a heavy load and produced some big numbers during the No. 9 Nittany Lions’ trip to Southern California. The week of action began March 5 with a 3-1 victory at No. 16 Cal State Northridge, paced by 13 kills on .286 hitting with four digs and two blocks for Kerr. The next night in a 3-1 loss at No. 11 USC, Kerr had 21 kills on .405 hitting with an ace and five digs. The trip ended with a 3-2 loss at No. 3 UCLA as Kerr delivered 19 kills while hitting .297, adding two aces and five digs. The week saw the graduate student opposite rack up 53 kills on .333 hitting with three aces, 13 digs and four blocks. He accounted for 35 percent of the Nittany Lions’ swings during the three matches and 41 percent of their kills. Kerr has hit double digits in kills in each of his last six matches and 12 of his 18 contests this season. He ranks second in the conference at 3.56 kills per set, is fourth in the EIVA and 11th nationally hitting .360 and is fourth in the EIVA at 4.06 points per set. This is Kerr’s second EIVA weekly award this season and third of his career.
