Charleston's Karl Lennert Klehm is the Defensive Player of the Week for Feb. 26, 2024. Karl led the way in building the Golden Eagles’ huge defensive wall against George Mason over the weekend. During a 3-1 win on Feb. 23, the freshman middle blocker had six kills while hitting .500, adding three aces, four digs and six blocks, two of them solos. In a 3-2 loss on Feb. 24, he did not have any kills but delivered two aces and 10 blocks, with three solo stuffs. The block total matches the season high in the EIVA this season. Over two matches he had six kills, five aces, four digs and 16 blocks, five solo. He is averaging 1.23 blocks per set this season, though he has only played 22 sets and started only three matches. Despite not seeing much on-court action until recently, his 27 blocks already ranks third for Charleston. This is the first EIVA weekly honor of Klehm’s career. Klehm joins teammate Ras Jesse Delancy, the Offensive Player of the Week, to give the Eagles program its first sweep of the EIVA weekly awards.
