Penn State's Michal Kowal is the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for Feb. 5, 2024. Michal put up some huge numbers in the No. 8 Nittany Lions’ split weekend in Indiana. The senior outside hitter totaled 37 kills – by far the team lead for the weekend – on .375 hitting with four aces, 14 digs and three blocks. During a 3-0 sweep of then-No. 15 Ball State on Feb. 2, Kowal collected a dozen kills on .360 hitting with an ace, seven digs and a pair of blocks. He fired in a career-high 25 kills while hitting .383 with three aces, four digs and a block in a five-set loss to Purdue Fort Wayne. Kowal’s kill total in the match against the Mastodons marks the fourth time an EIVA student athlete had reached 25 or more kills in a match this season. This is Kowal’s first EIVA weekly award of the season and second of his career.
