Charleston's Cole Duncanson is the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for Jan. 22, 2024. Cole played only four sets over the Golden Eagles’ two matches for the week, yet the junior middle blocker still had a major impact above the net in a pair of 3-0 victories. He had five kills on six swings to hit .667 with an ace, two digs and 10 blocks, two of them solo stuffs, against Emmanuel (Ga.) on Jan. 19. The 10 total blocks are a single-match best in the EIVA this season. The next night against Edward Waters, the junior transfer played only one set with one kill, but he still put up three blocks. For the week he had six kills on .500 hitting with 13 blocks, two digs and an ace. His 1.70 blocks per set leads the EIVA and the nation this season. This is the first weekly honor of the season and career for Duncanson.
