Penn State's John Kerr is the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for Jan. 8, 2024. John put on a dominating performance with 38 kills on .443 hitting as the No. 6 Nittany Lions opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Central State and a 3-2 victory against No. 16 Lewis. The senior opposite knocked in 31 kills on .417 hitting to beat the Flyers on Jan. 6. The kill total was a career high, as were his digs and aces, and he had the most kills for a Nittany Lion in a match since Aaron Russell had 32 against Ball State in 2015. He showed his power the most in the third and fourth sets, tallying 25 of his kills while hitting over .500 in both frames. He notched seven kills on 10 swings against the Marauders on Jan. 4, playing only two sets. For the week he also totaled five aces, 11 digs and two blocks. This is the second EIVA weekly honor of Kerr’s career. On Jan. 10, Kerr was named the AVCA National Collegiate Player of the Week.
