Luuk put together an impressive debut weekend with the Golden Eagles in a pair of 3-0 victories to open the team’s season. The sophomore outside hitter notched two 13-kill performances as Charleston swept past Belmont Abbey on Jan. 13 and D’Youville on Jan. 15. Hoge Bavel was error free on 16 swings to hit .813, adding nine digs, against the Crusaders, and made only one hitting error on 23 swings to hit .552 against the Saints. He totaled 26 kills with one error to hit .641 with 14 digs in his first two matches of collegiate ball in the U.S., after training with the Netherlands Junior National Team and attending university in his home country. This is Hoge Bavel’s first weekly EIVA award.
