MUNCIE, Ind. -- Junior Parker Dixon posted a match-high 19 kills, but an efficient Ball State offense controlled the match Friday night during the Cardinals' 2019 season opener. Ball State hit .486 for the match in a 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 victory.
Dixon was brilliant throughout the match; the former All-EIVA player had 19 kills on only 33 swings (.485), and he added four digs and two blocks. Classmate and 2018 All-American George Huhmann added 11 kills, three blocks and two digs, while junior Joe Kelly paced the offense with 31 assists. Both Dixon and Corry Short had four digs apiece for the Tigers, who had six different players record at least one kill.
Princeton will conclude its season-opening road trip Saturday when it takes on 14th-ranked Purdue Fort Wayne, which won its season opener Friday night 3-0 over EIVA opponent NJIT. This will be a showdown between Keegan brothers; Princeton libero Cade Keegan is the younger brother of Mastadon setter Michael Keegan.
