PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore middle George Huhmann recorded 13 kills and hit .400, but his effort was not enough to lead Princeton to its first EIVA win of the season. Harvard improved to 2-2 in league play by hitting .410 for the match and raising its defensive efficiency throughout the evening in a 3-0 victory in Dillon Gym.
Both teams were relatively efficient in the first set, which featured seven ties and three lead changes, but Harvard grabbed a late lead and pulled away for a 25-22 win. From there, the Crimson was able to raise its hitting percentage to .417 and .542 over the final two sets, while also finding more success in blocking Princeton swings, to claim 25-19 and 25-18 wins.
Huhmann bounced back from a tough match against George Mason with a strong effort against the Crimson; he added three digs, two blocks and an ace during the match. Classmate Greg Luck had eight kills and four digs, while Parker Dixon added five kills. Junior Oboh added five blocks on the defensive end, while freshman Joe Kelly paced the offense with 28 assists.
Princeton continues its five-match homestand Saturday at 4 pm against Sacred Heart. The match will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network.
