BRONXVILE, N.Y. – In its 43rd year the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) is proud to announce its fourth EIVA Hall of Fame Class. The three honorees will be recognized at the 2015 EIVA Championship match on Friday, May 1st at the site of the top seed in the tournament.
Javier Gaspar (Penn State), Marin Gjaja (Princeton), and Santiago Restrepo (East Stroudsburg) represent the deep history of the EIVA, founded as the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball League (ECVL) in 1971.
“It’s a unique twist that each of this year’s EIVA Hall of Fame class had the privilege of playing for EIVA Hall of Fame coaches,” stated EIVA President Ron Shayka. “It’s as if each one partnered with their coach to provide superior team leadership and excellence on the court that helped redefine their positions. Another thing that all three had in common was the fact that opponents always knew where these dominant players were on the floor.”
In the three weeks leading up to the EIVA Championship match, EIVAVolleyball.com will feature an in-depth look at each of the Hall of Fame inductees to fully recognize their accomplishments and impact in the world of EIVA Volleyball. The first release will feature Gaspar on Tuesday, April 7th.
